Official Padel Court Dimensions
Detailed specifications for padel court measurements, layout, and spatial requirements according to FIP standards.
Main Court Dimensions
Total Area and Layout
A regulation padel court is a rectangular playing area measuring precisely 20 meters in length by 10 meters in width. These measurements are taken from the inner faces of the court walls. The International Padel Federation (FIP) allows a tolerance of 0.5% in all measurements to accommodate construction variations.
Critical Measurements
- Length: 20.00m (±0.10m)
- Width: 10.00m (±0.05m)
- Total Area: 200 square meters
Playing Surface
The playing surface must be flat and level, with maximum variations not exceeding 3mm measured with a 3-meter straight edge in any direction. This ensures consistent ball bounce and player safety across the entire court.
Surface materials can include:
- Porous concrete
- Artificial grass with silica sand infill
- Synthetic surfaces designed for padel
- Color-coated hard surfaces
Out of Court Area
Beyond the 20m × 10m playing area, additional space must be provided for:
- Safety margins around the court perimeter
- Access points and emergency exits
- Referee positions and scoring equipment
- Player rest areas
Service Areas
Service Lines
The service lines are drawn parallel to the net at a distance of 6.95 meters on each side. These lines must be 5cm wide and clearly visible in a contrasting color to the court surface.
Service Zones
The service area is divided into two equal zones by a central line perpendicular to the net. This line extends 20cm beyond the service line and must be the same width (5cm) as other court markings.
Central Line
Key specifications for the central service line include:
- Width: 5cm
- Length: 6.95m + 20cm extension
- Position: Centered between sidelines
Net Specifications
Net Height
The net must meet the following height requirements:
- Center height: 88cm
- Ends height: 92cm
- Maximum height variation tolerance: ±0.5cm
Net Posts and Cables
Net posts and cable specifications include:
- Post height: 105cm maximum
- Cable diameter: 10mm maximum
- Tension mechanism: Required for height adjustment
- Side attachments: Must be integrated with court structure
Access Points
Door Dimensions
Access points must conform to one of these configurations:
- Single access per side:
- Width: 1.05m - 2.00m
- Height: 2.00m - 2.20m
- Double access per side:
- Width: 0.72m - 1.00m (each opening)
- Height: 2.00m - 2.20m
Placement Requirements
Access points must be positioned according to these guidelines:
- Symmetrically placed in side walls
- At least 3m from net posts
- Clear of play interference zones
- Accessible for emergency services
